PROOFING
In
the MCR User's Manual (included with program demo
as well as program) we recommend digital proofing
and proofing with inkjet technology.
A
MCR separation is formatted as process color channels
plus spot color channel(s), Proofing the separation
is essentially the same as proofing process color
plus spot color.
Proofing
with Inkjet Technology
Many wide format inkjet printers offer high color
gamut capability for red and orange color ranges.
Vivid reds and oranges made possible by the MCR
"Plate 5" can be proofed quite accurately
with a number of these printers.
If
"in house" proofing using a modern wide
format inkjet printer is desired, proofing
software such as that provided by EFI, Oris Color,
Onyx Graphics, etc. is always recommended but
it is not an absolute necessity to have
such software.
If a suitable inkjet printer is "in house",
Pantanal Color Company will provide color tables,
test images, and personal instruction to calibrate
the outputting parameters of the inkjet printer
so that the outputs are as accurate as possible
without the availability of the above mentioned
software. For the needs of many customers this
degree of color accuracy will be appropriate.
Please
feel free to contact us for recommendations based
on your specific needs.
SCREEN
ANGLES
The
MCR Color Separation process has been implemented
so that,
"Plate 5" (Red) and "Plate
6" (Violet) normally share the same
screen angle as the "K" (Black) plate.
That angle must be at least 30 degrees from the
Magenta and the Cyan screen angles.
These
screen angle recommendations work extremely well
because there is "zero coincidence"
between "Plate 5" and "Plate 6",
and because the coincidence between either of
these plates and the black plate is very low.
