What
does Mizar Color Recipe do for the designer?
MCR
is a standalone program which is used with Photoshop
to convert an image for commercial printing from
the designers monitor colors (sRGB) into a HIGH
IMPACT,
SIX color color separations set [CMYKRV].
Alternatively, user can choose
a FIVE color separations set [CMYKR]. The
C, M, Y and K ink specifications coincide to whichever
Photoshop CMYK settings the user wishes to apply
in the last steps of the easy to run process.
In most cases the usual CMYK inks will be used.
THIS
SEPARATIONS SET allows for the accurate
printing of many color ranges MOST IMPORTANT
IN ADVERTISING, PACKAGING, ETC. Within
those ranges are included many spot colors
[very important for advertising effect] such as
[intense red-PMS 185] (very close match
) and [Reflex Blue] (close
match ).
To
achieve accurate results for some of these color
ranges, particularly where specific expanded gamut
colors are to be precisely matched, color editing
using the straightforward method described in
the user's manual may be required. In
cases where the provided 18 color sample color
chart may not be adequate to meet the user's rigid
requirements, the printing of a color chart or
swatch set, reflecting the users equipment, ink
and media may be advised. Pantanal Color
Company will proactively assist, lending its expertise,
in creating any such needed color chart.¹
In
many or most cases, MCR eliminates the
need for time-consuming, unnatural looking
Touch Plates which so often turn out to
be more distracting than effective.
The
MCR generated outputs in conjunction with the
easy to apply color edit procedure, can impart
a remarkably accurate color conversion
from the designer's monitor color space.
Alternatively, the designer may choose to edit
the high-fidelity color file so that, in the final
design stage, the saturation levels of any selected
color ranges, particularly the impact color ranges,
are heightened or diminished as
the designer's discretion dictates.
A
sample color chart of MCR COLORS greatly helps
to impart predictability of just how the
printed output will look, and assists the designer
in applying the MCR colors to specific areas in
a design or to vector objects such as text in
the popular page layout programs.
The Sample Color
Chart (printed on Kromekote®) is included
with the program.
